To celebrate the holiday's but maybe more importantly time to take care of each other, time to take care of the one's we love that cant take care of themselves, time to be unselfish and share our precious time with those that need it the most so they don't isolate themselves and go deeper into their addiction or get to the point where they take their own life. The rate of suicide in Arizona for Minors ages 12-17 is up 67% from the same time period last year and ages 50-59 up 56% from the same time period last year and this follows suit with the national rate as well. I feel confident in saying that most of the increase in my opinion is being driven by the Covid-19 Pandemic so it is extremely important that we give more of ourselves to ones that need it the most and for those of you that are still struggling if your reading this your looking for help, well you found it we are here for you! Call us, walk in, run in what ever it take to get you here!
The other issue I want to talk about is the number one killer in not only Arizona but the United States and that's Fentanyl. In Arizona from July of 2017 to December 2020 there have been 7903 opiate related deaths of all the substances that have been involved in verified opioid overdoses in 2020 40.3% Fentanyl was the number one contributor.
So my message to everyone is to stay away from it. The fake 30mg "Mexican Oxy" pills that are out there are selling for almost nothing and the temptation to save money in an already expensive addiction is almost to much to pass up. We have had people that are smoking them and after the second hit it's a wrap they die! Hopefully someone has a Narcan kit to bring them back like the last person I spoke with 20 years old took that second hit and it took six kits to bring him back. DONT LET THAT BE YOU!!!
To each and every one of you we here at Behavioral Awareness Center wish you nothing but the best and to have a safe and happy holiday!!!!!!!!!!!!
